Boston Shinkendo more drama than most can handle, or want!

Emails, comments and discussions continue to be had about the infamous Boston Shinkendo Dojo and its Sensei, "Little Shafty"  (one whom many describe as a loon), are all over Social media.

So we thought we would interview some former students and caught up with several of them this past weekend at one of the "Gathering of Former Shinkendo Students".

Here is some paraphrasing of what we learned.

1.) "I remember we used to do an annual Christmas party and Shafty would setup a table in the dojo with himself at the head, and he would first put on this brown Kimono type vest and array himself as if he was a feudal lord.

He would them preside over the party with pseudo Japanese mimicked pomp and circumstance, making a total BUFFOON out of himself.

The students REALLY HATED all this nonsense and would laugh for hours about it often chatting in their WhatsAPP group about what a clown Shafty is."

2.) " I donated a few boxes of Tatami mats to the dojo because Shafty promised we would do Tameshigiri cutting, but after the last flop where his kids (the ones he is always bragging about), couldn't even cut through a mat, he has been putting it off.

The students suspect he used those mats for himself  and din't a crap about the students at the dojo who they were meant for.... a real class act this guy is."

3.) "He would try to force us to take his crappy Sunday morning BO staff class, what an utter waste of time that was, I learned more twirling batons as a high school cheerleader than in his ridiculous Bo class"

4.) " I think YUKISHIRO OBATA should grow a pair of cohones and make this guy Shafty officially apologize to everyone in Shinkendo, then force him to take a break until he learns to behave like a real Sensei!"

There are many more comments we can post, but will save them for other threads.

We wonder though, is this the kind of behavior that is referred to when they say 

Jinsei Shinkendo ?
